Unemployment Claims

The Massachusetts Division Of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) decides claims for unemployment compensation benefits. Our Resources Page has links to the DUA website, which explain the claims process.

Unfortunately, many employees are very nervous while being quickly interviewed by DUA over the telephone, and do not understand how to fully explain all relevant facts about why and how their employment ended. They may end up leaving out important supporting facts, which often results in the denial of an otherwise valid claim. The chances of this happening to you would be greatly reduced if you first secure the advice of the experienced employment attorneys at Lowrie & Andrew Attorneys at Law before being interviewed by DUA.

If your unemployment claim has already been initially denied, you have the right to appeal to DUA, which will conduct a hearing at which you and you witnesses may testify and present relevant documentary evidence. Our experienced employment lawyers are ready to fight for you at your DUA appeal hearing, to help you stand up to your employer, and to secure all unemployment benefits to which you may be entitled.
